What is remote access tuning and how is it done?

To help those not so local to us we designed a remote access tuning computer we call a TuneBox. Once we have one available we send it directly to the customer, schedule an appointment, and talk them through the process over the phone whilst we tune their transmission. All they need to do is plug it into the OBD2 port under the dash on the drivers side, and also into power with one of the supplied charging leads. We let our customer know when we need ignition switched on or off throughout the process.

The TuneBox has its own internet connection (All that's needed is reliable Telstra 4G reception available in the area) and internal battery, plus car charger and 240v charger. Once we have a TuneBox ready to send to a customer, we confirm they will be available the following week during our business hours for a remote access session. We advise to allow two hours for remote tuning, however it's often done in around an hour. Then we get the TuneBox sent back to us (or onto the next in line if needed) with an included pre-paid post bag.

Whilst this lets us help people all around Australia, it does mean the wait times for this service can be quite unpredictable. We generally advise there to be a 3-4 week wait from time of order but this all depends on how well people are behaved before you in the queue in regards to making an appointment when the equipment is ready, as well as sending the equipment back in a timely manner etc. I've attached some photos of a TuneBox to give you an idea of what to expect.

This service is $1280 inclusive of return express post.

Our transmission tuning for the Ranger platform also includes speedo calibration for different tyre sizes (to ensure shift points are where we expect) as well as a complete coding session covering all options on the list at the following link applicable to your model:
